Students

The Alabama Rural Health Association is committed to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals who will serve Alabama’s rural communities. Students play an essential role in shaping the future of rural health, bringing new ideas, energy, and a passion for improving access to care across the state. Through student engagement opportunities, ARHA connects students with healthcare leaders, policy discussions, professional development resources, and networking opportunities that help prepare them for careers in rural healthcare delivery, administration, and community health.

ARHA encourages colleges and universities across Alabama to establish Student Chapters that provide students with hands-on opportunities to learn about rural health issues while building leadership and professional skills. Student chapters allow participants to engage in educational programming, volunteer initiatives, research, and advocacy efforts focused on improving healthcare access in rural communities. Institutions interested in creating a new ARHA Student Chapter can work directly with the association to develop a chapter structure, identify student leaders, and connect with rural health professionals across the state. These chapters serve as an important pathway for students to gain experience, build professional networks, and become future leaders in Alabama’s rural health workforce.
